My name is Sean and I enjoy making things. Professionally I write software with my current gig emphasizing Flex-based Adobe AIR applications. Outside of work I enjoy designing and developing video games, making beer, taking pictures, riding my bike, playing video games and a whole host of other stuff.

Employment

August 2009 — Present. Flex Developer

BKWLD / Elastic, Seattle, WA (bkwld.com / elasticsuite.com)

Lead development of all desktop applications for Elastic, a suite of tools designed for B2B order entry, order management and product merchandising.

Worked with the CTO and other developers to create application specifications. Implemented specifications for all desktop applications. Maintained source code documentation and application specifications.

Worked with the developer of the online counterparts to the desktop applications to coordinate features and updates.

Worked closely with QA to ensure rapid, regular fixes to defects. Wrote unit tests with FlexUnit 4.

Worked with designers to create the layout for all applications and develop a brand identity. Implemented these designs as flexible, reusable skins (and components where needed).

Wrote and maintained the file format specification that allowed users to save files to disk. This allowed users to share files with each other as well as between different applications within the suite.

Wrote the Ant script that was used to automate builds with a single click.

May 2007 — August 2009. Lead Developer

Superstar Media, Bremerton, WA (www.superstarmedia.com)

Lead for the redesign of a multi-million dollar ticket sales website, including a complete content management system and an inventory management system with reporting. Designed, wrote and documented reusable PHP libraries, HTML and CSS templates, JavaScript scripts and Flex components. Wrote coding guidelines with emphasis on clear, well-documented and maintainable code. Worked directly with the clients to establish the project requirements and milestones.

October 2005 — May 2007.  Graphic Designer and Web Developer

School of Mechanical and Materials Engineering, Washington State University, Pullman, WA

Designed print materials related to news and events within the School. Designed and coded the School’s websites to the specifications put forth by the University.

January 2006 — May 2007.  Photographer

University Recreation, Washington State University, Pullman, WA

Photographed recreation events and classes for University Recreation print materials. Instructed others in the use of advanced DSLR cameras and Photoshop via presentations and hands-on training exercises.
