Stripper, a Tile Strip Utility for Flixel

Stripper is a simple utility for converting individual images into a single strip of tiled images for use in games. Stripper is was created to produce tile strips for Flixel-based games but there is no reason that the tile strips it outputs cannot be used in other game engines.

Presently Stripper exports both PNG (for images requiring transparency) and JPEG strips, animation previews (if the strip is an animation) and image reordering. To see Stripper in action check out the vid below.

Stripper is an Adobe AIR app and currently an alpha with a pair of annoyances that need to be eliminated before it can graduate to beta status. Once Stripper hits beta I’ll make it and it’s source available for download here.

UPDATE: 8/8/2010

The first release of Stripper, 0.2.1 can now be downloaded here.

This version fixes issues with adding large numbers of images at once, a bug that would cause reordered images to disappear and some issues with the animation preview. I’ve also added an auto-updater that will check for updates when Stripper launches. This will allow you to stay up to date without having to check back here for news and updates on Stripper.

Scroll down for a video demo (no sound, sorry my mic is not working) of the latest version.
